Objectives
- Create a new logo and a WordPress website for Bella Blessings, to enhance brand identity and online presence.
- Logo Design: Design a unique, inviting logo, drawing inspiration from Brittany’s existing business card graphics and color scheme.
- Web Design: Develop a simple website with a welcoming and serene Homepage, About page, and Contact Form for potential tenants.
Design Process
Logo: Brittany had an existing logo that was from the clip art options on vistaprint, and gave me free reign to use it as inspiration but completely redesign it. First, I developed a color palette of slightly muted, pastel colors. I then created an image in Adobe Illustrator of a row of three houses, each slightly different. I added heart-shaped chimney smoke, an open front door on the center house, and plants and trees to give it a welcoming, comfortable, and slightly feminine feel to complement the business name. I provided Brittany with a few options for fonts, and we narrowed it down to Dulcelin, a feminine, swirly but legible script font.
Website: For the website design, I used the self-hosted WordPress platform with the Genesis Framework and a premium Studiopress theme. To meet Bella Blessings’ specific needs, I customized the HTML and CSS of the Altitude Pro theme extensively. The homepage was designed with a three-section layout to keep things simple and easy to navigate. I needed to briefly welcome visitors to the site, give a general idea of what Bella Blessings does, and provide a way to learn more or fill out a rental application that would be sent to Brittany’s email. Drawing inspiration from her logo, I selected several stock images that felt warm and inviting, created a custom white gradient overlay on the image section backgrounds to further give the site a serene feel, and found fair-use images online of homes in the areas that Bella Blessings focuses on to use in the middle overview section to tie things all together. I also provided sitewide copywriting services to ensure that all website content was clear, engaging, and aligned with Bella Blessings’ brand voice, and implemented basic SEO.

Website: The website compliments the Bella Blessings logo and gives visitors a calm and welcoming feel. It offers a user-friendly experience, with simple navigation and lots of white space, making it easy for potential tenants to learn about Bella Blessings and apply for rental homes.
